Common issues with exporting sea freight to South Korea
Common issues with exporting sea freight to South Korea
With the acceleration of globalization, the scale of South Korea's maritime exports continues to expand. However, in the process of exporting to South Korea, it is necessary to comply with some relevant policies and precautions to ensure smooth progress. Here are some common issues and precautions:
1.What should we pay attention to when exporting electronic and electrical products from South Korea?
If you plan to export electronic and electrical products to South Korea, you need to understand the following two guidelines:
KC certification: Korean electronic and electrical products are forced to use the KC logo, which replaces the original EK logo. All mandatory safety certification products must obtain KCMark certification for all electronic products in the mandatory products before being sold in the Korean market. Annual factory audits and product sampling inspections are required, and certificates have no validity period.
MADE IN CHINA label: Goods sent to Korea must have a product MADE IN CHINA label on the product. If it is a clothing and footwear product, the origin label must be a ticket washing label, and the pasted origin label is invalid. After the implementation of the China South Korea FTA, import and export should enjoy the China South Korea FTA import and export clearance, and relevant certificates of origin must be submitted.
2. Do I need to send the original fumigation certificate to the Korean buyer when exporting the goods in wooden packaging to South Korea?
The IPPC logo can be used for customs clearance without the need to send the original.
3. Precautions for South Korean sea freight exports
The following are some common precautions for South Korean sea freight exports:
Private name customs clearance: Under normal circumstances, South Korea cannot clear customs in a private name, unless the person has property, hotels, shops, etc. in South Korea and can provide a business license!
Container weight: It is best not to exceed 25 tons for Korean containers. If it exceeds 25 tons, it will be inspected by Korean customs. The weight of Korean road trailers is generally limited to 17 tons and 23 tons.
Sea transportation to Jeju Island: there is no direct ship for sea transportation to Jeju Island, South Korea, but only to Pusan barge, South Korea.
Certificate of Origin: Some countries have trade restrictions on China, and some companies want to send their goods to South Korea to apply for a certificate of origin, which is not feasible. South Korea cannot provide fake certificates of origin, and can only provide goods that are truly produced in South Korea. You can transfer through South Korea, but you don't need a certificate of origin!
Port selection: Incheon, South Korea is divided into Incheon Old Port, Incheon New Port, and Kyeongjin Port. Many Korean buyers do not like to deliver goods to Incheon Kyeongjin Port because the towing fee is relatively high!
In short, exporting to South Korea requires compliance with relevant policies and precautions to ensure smooth progress. If you have any questions, we suggest consulting a professional freight forwarding company or relevant organization
