IRAQ import duties:
Import goods must pay customs duties, stamp duty and defense taxes, products and machinery and equipment in urgent need of certain countries are exempt from customs duties, and goods temporarily imported must pay a tariff equivalent to one-eighth of the customs duty, which can be repaid when they are re-exported. Iraq has established a single tariff schedule for imports. There are many items that levy taxes from volume, but the main one is AD valorem taxes. Goods sent to customs by post may enter customs duty free if the duty does not exceed 100 ferr (0.1 dinar). In addition, all items subject to import duties must be subject to a surcharge equivalent to 15% of the tariff. Samples and trade catalogues (including price lists, leaflets and posters) without commercial value are allowed duty-free entry.
Iraq Import Documents:
1. Commercial invoice. The commercial invoice must include a detailed description of the goods shipped, including the place of departure and the place of origin where the goods were produced. If the goods contain parts produced in other countries, their percentage in the goods must be stated and the full name and address of the manufacturer must be given. The original commercial invoice and five copies thereof must be sent to the consignee, but only the original must be legally certified. When shipping goods by air, there must be 3 copies of the commercial invoice for loading the goods, and the other copies shall be sent to the consignee.
2. Bill of Lading. At least 3 copies are required, and the bill of lading shall indicate the name of the shipper, the name and address of the consignee, the port of destination, the description of the goods, the freight and other charges, the total number of copies of the bill of lading, the signature of the carrier officially acknowledging the receipt of the goods alongside the ship and the date. In addition, the nationality of the carrier should also be indicated, otherwise, the bank will refuse to accept these documents. The air waybill will replace the bill of lading in the case of air freight.
3. Certificate of Origin. The certificate of origin must first be certified by the appropriate chamber of commerce, and then sent to the embassy to prove its legality. The certificate must state that the producer is not included in the blacklist of the Government of Iraq.
4. Packing list and other documents. Two packing lists were sent together, which listed the contents of each container, including labels, descriptions, weights, dimensions, quantities and colors. An analytical certificate in English is required for the import of antimicrobials, compounds and preparations. It must be certified in the specified form by a recognized specialized laboratory, and a notarized analysis must be provided every 6 months.
